About us

Akwasidae Cultural Ensemble are an extraordinary group of musicians and dancers based in Accra Ghana; it was established in 2010 with the aim of promoting arts and culture.

The organization was established by Ghana leading renowned Choreographer and Artistic Director Amofa Eugene Obeng, who comes from KIBI APAPAM in the Eastern Region Amofa Eugene Obeng was born in james town Accra, where he started his dance and music career.

He later formed a group called Akwesidae Cultural Ensemble which includes the past members of The Nyanyala Creation Production.

Although rooted in traditional music, Akwesidae Cultural Ensemble has developed a new brand of music and dance.

We do events organizing, sound engineering and cultural troupe, we have also created innovative rhythms and dances by fusing bass and lead guitar, electrifying jazz and African rhythms, and traditional Ghanaian instruments. In their quest to develop a new style of Ghanaian music, they have been dazzling audiences in Ghana and around the world.
The organization has promoted a lot of talented artist from Ghana to abroad to promote indigenous traditional African Culture.
The organization also provides workshops on traditional African Drumming and Dancing for expatriate from all over the world of what we called the DRUM SCHOOL.

Akwasidae Cultural Ensemble has a tradition of identifying young, talented artistes with mastery of particular dance forms from different parts of the country and training them to express a dazzling variety of dances. Many of these dancers have gone on to set up their own companies or worked with companies all over the world.
The directors of the organizations have had the challenge of transforming dance in the day to day lives of Ghanaians to stage presentations containing them in restricted time and space.

Akwasidae Cultural Ensemble comes to you as an institution established to conserve the exquisite, rich heritage of Ghana's dance cultures and to stand for the exhilarating creativity engendered by the essence of Ghanaian Dance.
